Heroes walk among us every single day. They wear the clothing of everyday citizens; they
might even wear nursing scrubs. Margaret Sumrall, RN with Hospice of North Arkansas in Mountain Home, Ark., and her husband, Malcom Sumrall, a hospice volunteer for the agency and a United States Armed Forces veteran, are great examples of heroes who walk among us.

Margaret has completed three “Quilts of Valor and is working on her fourth and fifth. The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. Nationwide, over 250,000 quilts have been presented to veterans since the program began over 10 years ago. In April, Margaret assisted in the completion of the most amazingly beautiful king size quilt for a Hospice of North Arkansas patient. The patient, with his family present, was presented with the Quilt of Valor and given a last salute by Malcom, who is also a member of the Stone County, Ark., Honor Guard. The patient passed away a few days later covered by the love, support, and recognition of his service to our county.

Thank you to Margaret and Malcom for their on-going dedication to our veterans. They serve and walk among us as unsung heroes every day, and they are honoring those who have served us in the most meritorious way, leaving a legacy of pride and a symbol of support with these families.
